Next month, Morning Musume are releasing their new single entitled “Seishun Collection.” Gaki-san describes it as a very positive and spring-like number.

Song: Morning Musume – Seishun Collection

Fan mail #1: The first fan mail of tonight’s show presents the hosts with a simple question: in their respective households, who in the family gets to decide which channel the TV gets adjusted to?

In Kame’s family, while the matter is not quite set in stone, Kame thinks she’s often the one who gets to decide. “That’s kind of the rule,” she says. She explains though that this isn’t her fault — it’s the other members of her family who decided to make it so. “If we don’t watch what Eri wants to watch, she might get angry…” Likewise, in Gaki-san’s family it’s often the females who get to choose… leaving the only male of the household, Gaki-san’s father, to fend for himself. When he wants to watch soccer or such, he must do so in his own room.

It’s a women’s society,” Kame proclaims.

We’re right in the midst of Golden Week! To celebrate, this episode will be a fan mail special.

Song: Morning Musume – Namidacchi

Fan mail #1: The first message is from a listener who has only just recently become a fan of Morning Musume. Through viewing the group’s live videos on the internet, they’ve noticed something peculiar: Sayu seems to kiss a lot of the other members quite often. And yet, she never seems to do so to Gaki-san or Kame even though she is close with the both of them. Why?

What do you think about all this kissing business?,” Gaki-san asks her co-host. While Kame sees nothing wrong with some simple kisses, she recognizes that Sayu is especially proactive in trying to initiate these things. On their current tour (“Pikappika!”), Sayu’s been kissing Ai-chan constantly — she’s been going so far as to making premonitions like “one day, I’m going to make Ai-chan’s lips mine.” The hosts agree, though, that the kissing is still at an acceptable level at the moment — any more than this and it might be gross.

Gaki-san recently updated the show’s blog with a simple request to the listeners: “suggest me good retorts I can use against Kame when she’s acting stupid!

Gaki-san received a bunch of ideas from fans, and so she wants to take time out of the show today to decide the best retorts against Kame. Some of the suggestions sent in include the classic “nande yanen!” (“why the hell?!“) and “chau chau!” (“wrong!“), but also more inventive ones such as “Kamei ka yo!” (“are you Kamei!?“), “mayuge beam!” and “mou, hontou no kame ni natte” (“ugh, please turn into a real turtle already“).

Gaki-san’s personal preference of the ones listed so far is “Kamei ka yo!” She asks Kame to choose her favorite — “what’s the one you think would affect you the most if you were acting stupid?” Kame says she prefers the snappier ones such as “chau chau!“, but ultimately chooses “chigau ga na!” (“that’s wrong!“) Thus, that’s the one they will go with on today’s show.

Fan mail #1: “Gaki-san, Kame-chan, good evening!” The first fan mail points out how fun all of the listeners’ radio names can be. Thus, he asks for the hosts to think of their own radio names.

Kame comes up with her radio name in mere seconds: “Jeoneun” (Korean for “I“). It’s a word she really likes. Some other Korean suggestions they come up with include “Naengmyeon” and “Halmeoni” (“Grandma“). Ultimately, though, Gaki-san decides on “Short Gaki” which is a nickname she came up with in Hawaii. Kame nearly chooses “Chotto Eri” (“A Little Bit Eri“) before finally settling on “Mou Eri” (“Eri Already“).

Fan mail #2: Morning Musume held a fanclub tour in Hawaii last month, and the listener wishes to know all about it!

Hawaii sure was fun,” the hosts agree. Gaki-san explains: “the atmosphere in Hawaii… it’s like, the fans all go back to being young boys and girls.” Something Kame found memorable about the tour was how (physically) close the members were to the fans — at times during the quiz event, there wasn’t even a full meter between them! But, at the end of the day, the no. 1 most memorable thing for the hosts was the live show. “There’s something about that feeling of performing outdoors,” Gaki-san explains. “You get to watch the sunset as you perform!

Fan mail #1: The listener congratulates the hosts for this show now having been on the air for a full year! On the very first episode, Kame talked about how she had matured somewhat: on their previous radio show together, Kame would only receive a one-page script per episode whereas Gaki-san always got the full version. Beginning with the this show, however, Kame started receiving the full version as well. Now that a year has passed, the listener wishes to know if Kame continues to get the same script as Gaki-san.

Kame says that, “in a sense” she now receives a bit less: the version of the script that Gaki-san receives is in a bigger font so as to allow her to make notes and such. Meanwhile, Kame prefers a really small font so everything can fit on a single A4 sheet of paper. In any case, the hosts are happy about the show’s first birthday. Gaki-san remembers how, back when it was still starting, Kame would interrupt her reading of the show’s email address with her pointless mumbling. These days, however, Kame will often say actual words instead.

Which reminds Gaki-san: some time ago, they were in the car listening to the episode where Kame suddenly did her “disgusting moaning” — twice. This apparently made Gaki-san’s dad, who was in the car with her, quite worried about Kame. With that said: the two happily agree to keep doing their best towards the show’s second birthday and beyond!

Fan mail #1: The listener is second grade middle schooler whose hobby is baseball. He asks the hosts what their favorite positions in the game are.

Gaki-san asked one of her managers to explain to her about the game so the two could answer the question properly. While she was at it, she asked what he thought their positions should be. The manager thinks Gaki-san would make for a good catcher as it’s a position where you can see the whole playing field. Kame, he thinks, would probably be a right fielder — not many balls end up all the way back there so it wouldn’t matter even if she was just spacing off most of the time.

Kame says she’s later going to harass the manager in question with incessant phone calls.

Fan mail #1: The listener has something they say they “reeeeeeeeeeeeeally” must tell our hosts.

Kame: (as listener:) “Niigaki Risa-san… Kamei Eri-san… suki dasu. Oh, wait. I made a mistake. I mean: suki desu. Phew, feels good getting it off my chest.” Well, what do you think Gaki-san? Your answer? We were confessed to just now!
Gaki-san: Um… Does this person not kind of resemble you?
Kame: Why do you say that?

That aside, the hosts are thankful — they agree it feels good to be told you’re liked. Kame says her heart is filled with love.
