Gaki: I’m Niigaki Risa!
Eri: And I’m Kamei Eri ~
Gaki: Huh? They turned off the lights… Chan-chan-chan-chan-chan-chan ~ Happy birthday to you ~ Happy birthday to you ~ Happy birthday dear Kame-han ~ Happy birthday to you ~ (Classic Gaki-Kame radio show birthday surprise)
Eri: I knew you guys were going to celebrate it this week! I knew it! (Little Eri is determined to let the whole world know she’s not gullible.)

Manager T was wearing only the head of a reindeer costume (along with his regular clothing of course) as he brought in a sack of presents for Eri. (Last year during the live recording he was dressed as a reindeer too when brought in the cake.) This results in Gaki-Kame squealing “he looks gross!” (Poor manager T.) Eri is allowed to feel the items in the sack but she can’t take anything out unless she guesses the item. One of Eri’s guesses was a bed sheet and Gaki-san went “why should I buy your bed sheets for you!? Go buy them yourself!” (Man, I’m going to miss the little squabbles they have.)

Anyway, there were socks, a pillow, a doll, a card, and Haribo gummies (they FIVE STAR’d this together on this episode — Eri remembers them doing so). Eri wouldn’t stop complaining about how manager T looked. The doll would make a laughing noise when pressed; you can hear it in the background throughout the opening. Surprisingly, Gaki-san was the one who kept playing with the doll and laughing at it instead of Eri.

They received lots of e-mails for this final episode including suggestions for the regular FIVE PLEASURES segment, and this week’s challenge is… “The first one to cry loses.” Gaki-san was like “what!?” and then she started “scolding” the listener. And the penalty for this week is to keep smiling as they close the show (yup, the first one to cry has to smile for the rest of the show).

FASHION
This week’s opening topic

This week’s opening topic is fashion! Eri shops frequently and her latest purchase is socks! (During one of the recent episodes Eri said all of her socks are torn.) She bought lots of them and even gave socks to Gaki-san as a birthday present.

Gaki: Guess it’s fine since you wear out your socks pretty fast.
Eri: The new socks already have holes in them!
Gaki: You’ve got to be kidding.
Eri: When I was taking them off, my finger went through and I was like “Huh? Is my finger supposed to go through this thing?

Gaki-san lectured Eri for wearing out her socks so fast and said that only primary school students tear their socks that often. In her defence, Eri said she is a primary school student. Gaki-san reminds Eri that she’s already an adult, although she agrees that Eri probably has a mental age of a primary school student.

Gaki: five-nk@interfm.jp
Eri: What if…
Gaki: five-nk@interfm.jp
Eri: The holes in my socks were actually because of worms who ate them?
Gaki: Wouldn’t that be gross?

OYSTER
This week’s opening topic

A couple of weeks ago, Kame allowed Gaki-san to speak alone on the topic of books. This week, Gaki-san says she will return the favor — she’s not at all fond of oysters.

Kame says she knows this great oyster bar that she visits often. She promises to take Gaki-san along some time. Gaki-san is just surprised by how cool Kame sounds mentioning it in passing like that: “yeah, it’s just this oyster bar I like, no big deal.” Still, while Gaki-san is not yet a fan she still wishes to one day overcome her dislike of oysters.

JOB
This week’s opening topic

Work, huh?,” Gaki-san asks. For the time being, our hosts would describe themselves as idols, singers, or — as they jokingly put it — artists.

But had Gaki-Kame not become members of Morning Musume? “No doubt about it: I would’ve become a dolphin trainer,” Kame says. Gaki-san expresses serious doubt as to the truthfulness of this statement, but Kame clarifies that it’s simply that she likes herself when she claims she’s “someone who wants to become a dolphin trainer.”

Gaki-san, on the other hand, says she would’ve ended up working either at Disneyland or as a kindergarten teacher. She says kids start to become gradually more impertinent by the age they get into elementary school, so kindergarten would’ve been just right for her.

Kame: But instead we are now the special vocalists of Morning Musume!
Gaki-san: (laughs) Just how pretentious do you want to sound?!

Song: Morning Musume – Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game (AL ver.)

Artist.

THANKS
This week’s opening topic

As November 23 is Labor Thanksgiving Day in Japan, today’s opening topic is “THANKS.”

You must be eternally grateful to your mom, right?,” Gaki-san asks her co-host. It actually goes even further than that: Kame says she thinks every single human being apart from herself is amazing. She couldn’t imagine being anyone else, such as Gaki-san or their manager, and having their responsibilities. She’s very grateful she gets to be in contact with people like that.

People, animals, birds, nature, decorative plants… I think it’s all amazing,” Kame says. “I mean, if someone told you to become the ocean… it’s not like you actually could. Right?

Gaki-san notes that whenever Kame talks, she has a tendency of making the listener think she’s saying something meaningful… but by the time she’s done talking, one will often feel somehow cheated.

HOT SPRING
This week’s opening topic

Kame announces that her hands smell very fishy today — turns out she was out eating sushi just prior to the recording of this episode. But as for today’s opening topic…

I don’t think anyone could hate hot springs,” Kame theorizes. Gaki-san loves the calming atmosphere of hot springs and eating inside the accompanying Japanese-style rooms. The hosts both really want to visit one soon, especially one with an open-air bath — that cold air mixed with the hot water of the bath is heavenly.

BOOK
This week’s opening topic

Books,” Gaki-san introduces today’s opening topic. “Something that bears no relation whatsoever to Kamei Eri.” Indeed: Kame encourages her co-host to speak on this topic alone. Gaki-san has been hooked on the works of Yamada Yusuke — she was introduced to him by Sayu who has read all his books.

Gaki-san speaks highly of the iPhone’s book reading functionality. “You can get books on it the same way as apps or games,” she explains. She suggests that Kame try this out, considering how unlikely it is that she would ever have the energy to visit an actual bookstore.
