BZS1422 #115 (2014.09.28)

bzs1422

This is the last broadcast of September and autumn is fast approaching. And since autumn is (apparently) the season of good appetite, Chii asks Kumai-san if there’s anything she finds “gourmet” about herself. Kumai-san says she’s not good at resisting seasonal limited editions when it comes to food. Chii asks if Kumai-san’s answer has anything to do with her being gourmet or not, and points out that the staff is laughing at her answer. Kumai-san protests by saying that she’s sitting next to the most gourmet person in the world and Chii agrees that her presence does raise the bar.

To begin with, Chii always takes pictures of the delicious meals she has at restaurant so she doesn’t forget about them. Also, she used to collect business cards from restaurants as well. (She was influenced by their ex-manager who was apparently very gourmet themselves, but she got bored of it at some point.) They agree that Berryz is pretty gourmet overall as a group, but Kumai-san insists that Chii is definitely no. 1 — even when they go to restaurants together, Chii will tell Kumai-san which sauce goes best with which food. Chii is also very picky about her soy sauce: she’s very adamant about only using soy sauce that’s housed in an air-tight bottle.

Kumai-san suggests that Chii ought to get some sort of a certification. “What, like a Gourmet Master certification?“, Chii asks. She doesn’t like the idea because she figures if someone was a qualified Gourmet Master, they’d probably get fat very quickly. Chii mentions there’s actually a person on the staff of BZS1422 who’s kind of plump. Kumai-san laughs and one-ups Chii by saying there’s even a member in Berryz Koubou who suddenly gained a lot of weight, too.

How about becoming a certified Soy Sauce Sommelier?“, Kumai-san asks.

Konya mo Usachan Peace #413 (2014.09.22)

konya

Sayu begins by talking about her recent activities with Morning Musume and how they’re starting to remind her of her approaching graduation: she’ll now often realize she’s doing all kinds of work with them for the last time, the recently ended Hello!Con or Naruchika tour as an example. She didn’t feel very aware of it at the time her graduation was announced, but now it’s starting to hit her with all these “lasts.” While it does make her feel lonely, she also doesn’t want to end up having any regrets so she’ll continue having fun talking with the members everyday, and trying to leave the fans with lots of great memories.

And speaking of lasts, Sayu brings up Morning Musume’s 57th single which is the last one featuring her and says tonight’s broadcast of Konya mo Usachan Peace features the first-ever broadcast of “Shabadabadoo.” Her initial reaction to the song title was one of confusion — “Shabadabadoo? What, does it have something to do with Kudo?” But now she actually likes the title and how its similar to the pointlessness of the title of her previous solo song, “Lalala no Pipipi.” She thinks that one, too, doesn’t really have any real meaning, and yet it very accurately represents the image of “Sayumi.”

Commenting on the difficulties Sayu had recording the song, she says her first recording session for it took five hours (usually a single only takes her just an hour or so.) She recorded all the vocals in the song herself, including the whispered and background vocals. Afterwards she received some pointers from Tsunku, so she did another recording session for the song improving some of the parts which took her a further three or four hours. So all in all, she spent eight or nine hours in total recording her vocals for just this one song.

Since she gave it her everything, she hopes the listeners will reciprocate by listening to the song so much that their ears begin hurt — though Sayu adds that since it’s her singing, that might actually only require one listen.

Kumai-san begins by talking about having a cake smeared on her face on her last birthday. It was the first time in her life she’d experienced it and she discovered that having cake all over her face made the task of breathing much harder. It was something she’d wanted to experience at least once in her life, but she can now safely say that it wasn’t very pleasant.

Chii looks back on their Tanabata Live and says she felt a huge sense of accomplishment in pulling it off successfully since Berryz had a larger than usual role in its planning. This among other things made her feel like she’s really grown up some, but adds that on the flip side, she still feels like a complete newbie when it comes to doing BZS1422. Even now she feels really nervous on the days leading up to the recording, and earlier today, she still hadn’t come up with material for a corner on the show even when arriving at the studio to record — luckily, she just found out that they don’t actually have that specific corner on the show today.

September 10th & 11th

Since this is actually the first time they’re recording BZS1422 after Berryz Koubou’s concerts with °C-ute at Budokan on September 10th and 11th, they want to talk about that now. Kumai-san says she had so much fun it felt like the concerts were over in a flash, and Chii says she was probably more nervous on °C-ute no Hi even though Berryz only appeared for a couple of songs, and that her nervousness continued even afterwards when they were just watching °C-ute’s performance backstage.

blog, Kumai Yurina, Natsuyaki Miyabi, Sugaya Risako, Tokunaga Chinami-488564

Kumai-san was watching °C-ute’s dress rehearsal in the audience when she realized that when the performing artists walk on the middle runway stage, they’re actually really, really close to the audience — she could even see Maimi’s sweat! It made Kumai-san feel embarrassed thinking about how she, too, could be seen so up close. Chii says this is the first time in years that she properly watched a full °C-ute concert live, and the first thing that struck her about it was how much movement there was compared to Berryz; °C-ute’s choreographies looked a lot more intense to her.

“November”

Because it is. Like there’s no explanation given for why Tomo chose this word and it’s probably best that way.

Anyhow, they move on to talking about their new play, Koi Suru Hello Kitty, which is about what life for Hello Kitty would be life if she turned into a human (she’s already not a cat so we’re halfway there) and went to school, but I like to imagine that it’s just a Koi Suru Fortune Cookie dance cover set in Puroland. Tomo mentions that she’s really nervous to be acting on stage for the first time so she defers to Sayubee, who is far more experienced in this realm. Sayubee says it’s a bit too early to say how things are going, but she’ll do her best to make it good. Tomo is also playing a male role in the play, an attractive young man on the soccer team. To prepare for this role, she’s been watching a lot of music videos featuring soccer boys to get an idea of how to act. Sure, we’ll go with that.

“Looking forward to it”

Today’s opening line comes to us from Sayubee, who really likes the drama Dear Sister and is looking forward to it. Tomo asks if this is a weekly thing, Sayubee says yes, and Tomo asks her if she’s really that excited for it every week. She is, but she confirms that she’s something of a drama fiend, and Tomo says that Yuka and Sayubee are the two always watching different dramas. Tomo gives a very insincere promise to try and watch one sometime.

They move on to talking about fall, since it’s the end of October. Tomo says that fall always makes her hungrier since the food is more tasty and she has been eating ramen regularly since the start of the season. Sayubee, on the other hand, hasn’t eaten any fall foods yet. She should get on it. Tomo says that another good fall thing to do is to snuggle with your pets. Tomo has her old cat Noontoon, but now she also has a hamster. She got interested in getting hamster when she went to a friend’s house and they had one, but then she found a reason to get one of her own:

Tomo: I went into a pet shop and they had hamsters and it was a sign.
Sayubee: They always have hamsters in pet stores, though.
Tomo: It was fate.

“Socks”

Karin introduces the show with the word socks because she really likes 5-toed socks. However, she wore her own pairs a little too much and they got holes in them, and so she’s been wearing her other socks more and more so that her intact socks can stay that way. She originally wrote the opening word as “5-toed socks,” but since she hasn’t worn them in a while and isn’t wearing them today, she felt like she just had to say “socks” in general instead. This topic, however, has made her want to start wearing 5-toed socks again because she loves them so much. Yuka isn’t so sure about this because of the holes, but she has noticed that Karin seems a little more sure of herself when she wears them, so maybe she should go back to representing the 5-toed socks.

Five-Toe-Cotton-Socks-Unisex
Toe socks give me the willies, actually.

As Autumn is coming into full swing, Karin has also taken a liking to looking up at the sky in the evening. She mentions that Orion has come into view at night now, and that if you look up at the stars every night you’ll start to notice a different in them, “Like, ah, that star was brighter last night than it was tonight.” She also really enjoys the feeling of looking up at something so much bigger than herself that makes her feel small and like a child, it’s very comforting. Yuka realizes that she hasn’t looked up at the night sky in a while, and even though she used to look at it on her way home or before she went inside, she usually just goes straight home and in the house now. She’ll make sure to look tonight, though. Yuka’s favorite thing about fall is that her favorite kinds of ice cream come out with fall flavors. One of her favorites is Haagen-Dazs’ new blueberry cheesecake flavor. Even just the name sounds tasty. Karin isn’t so sure, though, because it has “cheese” in it and she much prefers the taste of vanilla to the taste of cheese, so she usually ends up getting vanilla if she ever gets Haagen-Dazs.

Trattoria Buono! #83 (2014.11.01)

♪ Buono! – Minna Daisuki ♪

Momoko announces that November 1st is – Wow, is it already November? The girls marvel at how fast time has passed, with only two months remaining in the year. And on this day, we celebrate Dog day! In Japan, dogs go ‘wan‘ instead of ‘woof‘, as Miyabi will demonstrate:

Miyabi: Wan!
Momoko: Right on the money!
Miyabi: I got it right!
Airi: Eh?
Momoko: Because the numerals that make up the date for the first of November are ‘one one one‘!

Momoko points out that the other two have dogs at home. To proud dog-owner Miyabi, of course her dogs are adorable, all dogs are adorable. And their presence soothes the heart. Miyabi would always like to be keeping dogs.

On the other hand, Momoko is afraid of dogs and cats (Miyabi: ‘Even though you go “nyan nyan”‘), Momoko’s all nonono, she’s no good with any sort of animal. She’s raised a hamster before, but looking at them now, she feels that it’s impossible. Miyabi thinks that dogs are less scary than hamsters though.

Momoko says that her grandmother owns a dog at her home, which makes Momoko anxious about visiting – although that doesn’t stop her from going there to get her New Year’s money. She hasn’t got this year’s yet though.

The other two start talking about how cute their dogs are. Their phones are packed with dog photos. Miyabi has a ‘Pi-chan’ folder dedicated to her dog Peace (female). Peace is adorable in all her photos, even the blurry ones. Momoko comments that Miya’s dog even poses for the camera (Momoko: ‘So it’s an entertainer?Airi: ‘Entertainer doggy‘).

Momoko: That’s amazing. But yeah, dogs are cute, aren’t they?
Miyabi: They’re cute. Momo, you [raise them] too, someday.
Momoko: When I’d like my heart to be soothed by one, I’d look at one on, say, a postcard.

♪ Buono! – Warp ♪

Momoko announces that October 25th is Request Day, which commemorates the airing of the first radio request programme. Momoko asks the girls a hypothetical question: if they were listeners of Trattoria Buono!, what sort of messages would they send in?

Momoko: You know, honestly, you can’t really say that this radio programme has much in terms of content.

In the sense that they’re generally free to talk about whatever after Baron has introduced the topic. The girls are grateful that they’ve been allowed such leeway even up to their 82nd episode. Actually, the fact that they’ve hit 82 episodes astounds them.

Airi would like to have a corner where they talk about things related to Buono! Momoko checks if this is a complaint by Airi, making a play to appeal to the higher-ups. Airi comes back by mentioning that the topic is requests, after all. They could have a corner where they’d receive letters about their songs, and respond to questions on the lines of their impressions of the song or its lyrics.

Momoko: A corner where you’d be able to receive messages about our songs, something like that?
Airi: Yup yup yup.
Momoko: That’s your complaint-
Airi: Stop it.
Miyabi: It’s a request, a request.
Momoko: Ah, it’s a request.

For example, they’d accept requests to play songs, then they’d talk about the song, to give a deeper understanding about it. Airi confirms that this is merely a request. Until the bitter end, it’s Airi’s request.

Momoko: I’m surprised. After 82 episodes, Airi’s true nature is gradually revealing itself.
Airi: Because today is the day that request shows started.
