LoVendoЯ no LV-Я #67 (2015.01.06)

How do the members of LoVendoЯ spend their New Year’s? Nee-san doesn’t do anything: she simply stays indoors, doesn’t watch Kouhaku and doesn’t even eat the traditional New Year’s soba which the others say is a waste — the soba is the funnest part of New Year’s.

For Reina, her way of spending the New Year’s is very different now that she doesn’t appear on Kouhaku every year. She remembers being really happy the first year she got to spend the holiday at home with her family and not have to perform. One year she even got together with Mitsui Aika and Umeda Erika at her house and visited a shrine together with them. Nowadays, though, she’s once again busy performing at the Countdown Live every year.

Trattoria Buono! #99 (2015.02.21)

Momoko‘s down with the flu, so we only have Airi and Miyabi in the studio today, which is a first. The girls wish her a speedy recovery and hope that the listeners take care as well.

Back to the usual, Miyabi announces that the day after the broadcast, 22nd of February, would be ‘Neko no Hi‘ – ‘Cat Day’. It’s Japanese wordplay again – the twos can be read as ‘nyan’, which is the Japanese equivalent of ‘meow’. Similarly to Inu no Hi, when you put it together, the 22nd day of February gets you ‘Nyan nyan nyan‘.

Airi: The Yurushite-nyan person isn’t around for this broadcast though.

Miyabi loves cats, while Airi is allergic to them. Miyabi adds that while she’s allergic to cats too, she still likes them (Airi: ‘That’s heartbreaking‘). Allergies don’t stop Miyabi from looking at them though, albeit against glass displays. Airi mentions that ℃-ute leader Yajima Maimi also likes cats, and has amassed a collection of cat photos. However, she’s got dogs at home, which aren’t getting replaced any time soon. Miyabi finds cats soothing, and would probably have cats if it wasn’t for her allergies. Airi herself wouldn’t, but notes that Momoko, even if she does go ‘Yurushite-nyan’, doesn’t like cats.

Morning Musume ’15 12ki Nikki! #9 (2015.03.01)

Nonaka Miki and Haga Akane are here for our enjoyment today. As they get ready to start, we get an echo from the Maria/Ogata pairing where they admit that, other than small talk, they don’t really talk at all.

In honor of the fact that they’re finally going to be talking together, Nonaka, who is in charge today, would like to examine their relationship and how they seem to each other.

Nonaka: For me…. Haga-chan is..
Akane: Eh! ‘Haga’-chan?
Nonaka: (laughs)
Akane: I think this is the first time I’ve heard you call me that.
Nonaka: Ah.. yeah… usually it’s Akane-chan.. but anyway..

What Nonaka wants to highlight, is that she loves the way Akane reacts to things. She always reacts loud and dramatically. For example, when she’ll accidently hurt herself, she won’t just say ‘ouch’ normally, she has to call out loudly “OUUUUUCH!!!” So at first, when they had all just met, whenever that had happened the rest of 12th Generation got really worried, asking if she was all right. But now… they don’t react at all to it.

Akane: It’s like I’m talking to myself…
Akane: Well… actually, I do talk to myself a lot, so sometimes when I’m really trying to talk to people, they won’t answer me.

Itsudemo! Kannon Smile #13 (2015.02.24)

February’s almost over huh, which means the Hello! Concert’s recently ended as well. This time Kanon couldn’t do a whole lot and wasn’t sure if they would let her attend the concerts at all. Fortunately, she was, although Kanon thought it was annoying that she had to sit the whole time. She had sit out of rehearsals as well. Kanon received videos of the dances/poses instead of sitting through the entirety of a rehearsal. Because she could only pose, Kanon would try to do the choreography perfectly. Kanon knows that her problems were unavoidable with her foot injury and the flu getting in the way, though.

While she was sick,she took up using coconut oil more often. Kanon explains that she will use coconut oil to fry a salad with apples and meat fat. Well, at least, she would use the meat fat but for a while she couldn’t eat it as it would make her sick. While Kanon had the flu and even a time after she couldn’t eat anything but coconut oil and apples as other things would make her sick. Kanon proclaims to like the coconut oil, but prefers to eat more of a variety of things, generally speaking. Now that that the Hello! Concert’s are over she has gotten better and can eat normally.

BZS1422 #137 (2015.03.01) (guest: Berryz Koubou) FINAL EPISODE

This is the very final episode of BZS1422, and to celebrate, it’s a one-hour special! Chii laughs, though, as she explains that the only reason they managed to squeeze in the extra time is because they stole the 30-minute slot from AS1422 that usually follows BZS1422. Tough luck, ANGERME fans.

That’s not the only thing that’s special about this last episode: like last week, our hosts are once again joined by the rest of Berryz Koubou! The guests take turns in introducing themselves and listing one thing they like about the hosts:

Morning Musume ’15 12ki Nikki! #8 (2015.02.22)

Surprisingly, it’s Maria and Ogata again gracing our ears, with Ogata moving on to her third round of hosting. Ogata already has plans about what she wants her and Maria to talk about and she states it right away. She wants to talk about their current obsessions. Maria’s immediate response is that Ogata’s become notorious for always having a different obsession every day

Ogata states her game plan again, and Maria begins her answer. Apparently, despite teasing Ogata about it just a moment ago, her obsessions change often as well. Since she was young however, she’s mostly been fixed on two things: visiting Disney World and baseball.

As Maria wraps up, Ogata realizes that there has been a bit of a 12th Gen-wide granola obsession going around. Apparently, when one person in 12th Gen get’s obsessed with something, they talk about it a lot and try to get the others to like it as well. As mentioned by Maria, Ogata’s current obsession is always changing, and she’s always posting about them on her blogs. That all aside however, right now, at this moment, she’s super into Pumpkin Soup.

Her mom had been making it a lot lately, and it was so good that Ogata started to want to eat it everyday. Of course if she continued to eat it everyday she’d certainly get fat, so she should tell her mom to stop making it, but she’s just so in love with it right now, it’s just so delicious.

Ogata: Do you like pumpkins, Maria-chan?
Maria: Ah, I somewhat like them.
Ogata: I see, somewhat.
Maria: …So next time let me have some as well-
Ogata: Not a chance.

She seems cute and innocent now… until you try and eat her pumpkin soup!

There are two episodes of BZS1422 left until the end, and over these past 135 episodes, Chii hasn’t been successful in not flubbing her words at least once per episode. Not even once. She swears that on this episode, though, she’s going to do just that. Kumai-san asks Chii if she’s absolutely sure she wants to make such a bold statement, and Chii answers in the affirmative: she is sure.

Chii flubs her words around 45 seconds later.

The two hosts welcome their very special guests of the week. They introduce themselves as Shimizu “likes the easiness of having short hair” Saki, Tsugunaga “cute” Momoko, Sudo “likes Little My” Maasa, Natsuyaki “likes the summer” Miyabi, and Sugaya “loves secondhand clothing” Risako. Chii asks them all to relax: everyone seems to look very worried about being featured on a radio show hosted by Chii and Kumai-san of all people.

Kumai-san: You came on as a guest before, right, Captain? You seemed worried back then, too.
Captain: Right. Because you two don’t listen to a word of what the staff tells you.
(laughter)

BZS1422 #135 (2015.02.15)

Berryz Koubou’s final Hello!Con tour ended on the 15th. Chii and Kumai-san reminisce about their first Hello!Con tours back when they’d just joined 12 years ago, and how the Kids have since become the oldest active members of Hello! Project. So much has changed and evolved within H!P over these years, and Kumai-san thinks that evolution was especially evident with the “DANCE MODE” pattern of the latest tour what with the high-level acrobatics and all. The two share a strained laugh, however, when they come to the realization that despite this having been their last tour with H!P, not even one member of Berryz was included in said acrobatics performance.

Chii asks what kind of music Kumai-san has been listening to lately. Of the 136 or so songs released by Berryz Koubou to date, Kumai-san says especially feels like listening to their album and coupling tracks every once in a while, naming “Kimi no Tomodachi” and “Gaki Daishou.” In other words, she mostly enjoys the lesser-known material, but as Chii points out, Berryz has lots of lesser-known songs that are also really great.

As for non-H!P music, Kumai-san has previously mentioned on the show that she likes NAOTO INTI RAYMI, an artist she still listens to. But lately it’s mostly the Western artists that have been getting her attention, including Ariana Grande, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. When she hears Western songs she likes at shops and such, she uses an app on her phone to find out the artist so she can listen to it again later at home.

Meanwhile, Chii is completely hooked on Disney music at the moment. She enjoys the variety: they have the ballads but also the really energetic songs as well. Some of her recent favorites include “Umarete Hajimete” (“For the First Time in Forever”) from Frozen, “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, and a song from Tangled whose title she doesn’t remember.
