Itsudemo! Kannon Smile #7 (2014.01.13)

Kanon opens her show with a small discussion about the Winter Hello! Concerts. They are trying out a new type of performance style for DANCE MODE! (I’m assuming its the acrobatic performance shown at the beginning of this video). Kanon claims that she is considerably bad at it, however she affirms that the performances are very cool. There only Hello! Concerts every 6 months, so its really exciting to get to talk regularly for a little while with the other groups. Angerme is Kanon’s favorite group to be able to see at Hello! Concerts. Recently she got to talk with Tamura Meimi, which Kanon appreciates as she think they have a lot to relate about since they are both 16. After talking with her, Kanon realized that Meimei has a firm vision for her future. It got Kanon thinking that she needs to create a vision for her future as well. She hasn’t really thought about it before, but the one thing that she definitely wants for her future is to continue in Morning Musume. From there, Kanon will build on what she would like her future to be like.

Morning Musume ’15 12ki Nikki! #3 (2015.01.18)

This time around, only two of our four 12th Generation girls are MCing: Haga Akane and Makino Maria.

Of the two of them however, as promised, Maria is the one in charge. Maria asks Akane if she thinks they’ll be all right with just the two of them. Akane replies that they’ll try their best at least.

Maria once again announces them and then pauses to say she still sounds really stiff.

Akane replies that it’s only Maria’s third time saying it and she’s probably just nervous.

Next, Maria brings up that a while back 12th Generation went out to Yakiniku with all of the Morning Musume ’15 girls, sans Suzuki Kanon who couldn’t come. She asks Akane how it was.

Akane says that she had a lot of fun, because it was the first time they were able to talk to everyone a lot. Maria agrees, but then mentions that their senpai kept asking them so many questions. The question that was especially hard to answer was:

“After getting to know everyone, which one of their Senpai seemed the most different than they expected?”

We are Juice=Juice #58 (2014.11.18)

“Makeup routine”

These opening words are brought to you by Uemu, who recently has taken to putting on red lip gloss as part of her regular makeup. She has always been quite fond of lip gloss and she collects different kinds to use, but she has just bought colored lip gloss for the first time. She decided to buy a red and has started using it regularly in the hopes that it will become a standard for her makeup and she’ll be able to use it during concerts and such.

Apparently the gloss didn’t last for long because this is the only picture I can seem to find of her in it

Juice’s stage play, Koi Suru Hello Kitty, also begins this week. Tomo is pretty nervous, but Uemu is just a bundle of emotions as she screams throughout the duration of Tomo’s description of the play. She also screams when Tomo mentions that her birthday event is coming up. It’s very hard for her to believe that this is her second time having a birthday event, but she hopes that everyone can come and enjoy themselves with her again this year. She’s quite nervous about it. Tomo says she’d like to come, and Uemu demands it.

Tomo: It would be nice if I could go, but–
Uemu: You have to, stay until the very end, watch me, you have to!
Tomo: I’ll try.

SS1422 #101 (2014.12.21)

Christmas Break

So, two holidays, six family trips, and one repaired computer later, I’m back from the dead and ready to hop right back in to what is still, for the time being, S/mileage Station 1422. The group has at the point in time of this show already changed their name to ANGERME, and the show name will later change to AS1422 accordingly, but I will probably refer to the group as Ange should it ever need to be said, lest I cause myself and others undue feelings of fury and rage. I will attempt to only refer to the group as S/mileage whenever the members do, which they seem to do when they are referring to events in the past that happened prior to the name change. Anyway, on with the show.

Since it’s so close to Christmas, Rinapuu opens the show by asking Kananan what she wants for Christmas. After several moments of contemplating and drawing out her answer, Kananan says that she wants some books or some DVDs or something. Rinapuu thinks that that is lame and tells Kananan as such, but she really wants some clothes, not that she needs any more, she just wants them. And maybe a DVD or two (Kananan: “Hey!”). They’ll be waiting for your presents to them. Or, Santa’s presents to them. Whichever comes first.

However, the impending holiday signals another important milestone: the end of the seemingly never-ending Smile Charge Tour. While Smile Charge has been a collective of a few different tours, they performed an incredible amount of shows in every single prefecture in Japan over the course of the year and it feels almost surreal to them that it might actually be over. It has been fun, though, getting to go to every single prefecture in Japan and occasionally getting the opportunity to sightsee and experience differences in the various regions of Japan. Kananan points out that she is indeed Japanese (to which Rinapuu replies, “Oh, really?”), but she didn’t realize how little she had seen of Japan until this tour, so even though it was very long and tiring to go around the country like this, she is grateful for the opportunity.

Itsudemo! Kannon Smile #6 (2015.01.06)

Happy New Year! Kanon announces that the new year means its Ayumi’s birthday as well, so Happy Birthday, Ayumi!

The 9th Generation members recently got together to talk about what they are planning on doing for the group now that they are the leading generation. Kanon points out that it had been a while since they all talked together, especially because Erina will go off and do her own thing a lot of time. Becoming the oldest generation happened very fast, they all think, especially for Mizuki, who has to take on the role of being the Leader. As a whole, the 9th generation wants to keep everyone’s power together and keep energy high within the group. Kanon goes on a small tangent about the other two 9th generation members; Erina will continue to be the one who’s laughing no matter the situation, she thinks, although Kanon urges Erina to understand that its ok to cry sometimes. Kanon seems a bit concerned for Erina; her opinion is that Erina will continue to have a laughing relationship with others, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Riho, being the center deals with her every action and performance being watched, therefore the pressure must continue to be very high for her. Riho works extremely hard to perfect her performances, but, Kanon says Riho has grown to become a lot more soft and playful. During those times of playfulness Riho makes the best faces, for the other members and for the fans. Kanon professes her love for all three of the other 9th generation members and has confidence that together they will work together to make the best Morning Musume in 2015.

Morning Musume ’15 12ki Nikki! #2 (2015.01.11)

Before the show starts, Ogata warms us up by asking Nonaka for today’s English. Miki replies with:

Nonaka: I can eat katsudon forever.
Ogata: What does that mean?
Nonaka: I can eat katsudon forever~!
Akane: WHAT!?!
Ogata: You’ll get fat, you’ll get fat.

Today is the second broadcast of the show and everyone is super pumped about it. Ogata mentions that she has been waiting all week to do this again. Everyone also agrees that it’s great that they get to do this every week. Today, Nonaka Miki is in charge. She asks everyone how they’re feeling now that they’ve done this once already.

Maria mentions that she doesn’t feel like she talked much last time. Hearing that, Nonaka and Ogata put in that they talked a ton. They all agree that Maria should speak up a bit more this time.

BZS1422 #123 (2014.11.23)

There’s only a month to go until Christmas, and Chii says she wants Santa to bring her more toys this year. Kumai-san can’t decide what she’d like, but she nevertheless wants to spend this Christmas like she used to enjoy them as a child, meaning eating cake at home, going to sleep while eagerly anticipating Santa, that kind of thing. Chii points out, though, that it’s a bit of a challenge now at their age to get as anxious about Santa Claus.

Kumai-san asks any children listening to the show to cover their ears for a moment. Kumai-san did believe in Santa Claus until well into elementary school, and even though she knew who it was acting as Santa each year, she just didn’t want to crush that dream of hers so she kept believing that the real Santa Claus lives somewhere out there in Finland or so.

But the cold truth of the matter is that Chii and Kumai-san will undoubtedly be spending this Christmas being busy with the Hello!Con rehearsals, so they only hope that the staff will have Christmas cake prepared for them.

Itsudemo! Kannon Smile #5 (2014.12.30)

Kanon starts the show off by complaining about how cold it is. She was surprised when she saw how cold it was on the news, especially that it was very cold in Aichi as well. Kanon explains that it never gets cold enough to snow in Aichi. However, she heard that it had even snowed in her hometown, which she is sure was just as surprising to the people in Aichi as it was to her. Everyone wants to eat the snow if it does fall, she laughs, as its just custom to do so. Overall, Kanon can’t stand the cold and can’t wait for spring to come around.

Recently, Kanon talked to the members about coming on the show. Sakura said she was alright with being on the show, so she will absolutely definitely be the first guest on her show, Kanon confirms. Haruka also told Kanon “Zukki, I totally wanna be on the show too!” and Mizuki also expressed interest. Kanon is happy that they want to be on the show and hopes they will have their first guest soon. Which, she reminds everyone has been decided that it will be Sakura. However, she doesn’t think she will have a guest on the show until she gets a better sense of doing the show by herself.

Listener’s Messages

Message #1: Konbankanon! Last year for Mizuki’s birthday, she posted on her blog about “AyuMiZukki” all hanging out and I wondered if there was a particular reason that when they hung out they went to Kamakura and Kyoto.

The first thing Kanon says is there isn’t a reason. Just that Ayumi, Mizuki and Kanon’s names go well together, so it just made sense to say it like that. She doesn’t really know why, but they got a message requesting for them to go to Kamakura and so they went. And then, for Mizuki’s birthday, they went to Kyoto; she doesn’t know why they went there either. Other than those two places have a very “Japan” Feel to them, she doesn’t know why it was Kamakura and Kyoto. To be honest, Kanon says, whenever the three of them hang out it’s always very sudden. This doesn’t happen very often, so Kanon thinks of it like “I wish I knew when the next time would be”. The next time they have a break it would be nice to go to Kamakura or Kyoto, Kanon thinks.
