Kanon starts the radio show discussing the new 12th generation members. Starting out in Morning Musume takes a lot of individual manpower, Kanon thinks. There are lots of times when all you can feel is sleepiness and pain and don’t necessarily want to let their Senpai know. Also, she mentions that there’s four of them; so thats four different personalities they need to build for themselves, she explains. With that Kanon moves on to giving her impression of each of the 12th Generation members.

Ogata Haruna is a 1st year in high school, the same as Kanon. She proceeds saying that it is easy to see that she isn’t experienced and that she feels like she’s little different from the other three. But definitely gives a “From here on out I’ll do my best” type of feeling. Nonaka Miki also has a similar hardworking feel to her; when she says things like “Otsukaresama Deshita” she says it to everyone. Kanon thinks Haga Akane is really cute; after all she is only 12. Apparently Haga-chan says things almost excessively polite like “Thank you very very much for today, from now on I’ll do my best!”. Kanon thinks its cute that she says things so politely (again, being 12 and all). She thinks Makino Maria has a very “True to myself no matter what” feeling about her and that you can see her trying her best. She concludes this section by saying that while she doesn’t know the four very well yet, she thinks they will be able to work together and make for a good group as they transform into Morning Musume ‘15.

Kanon starts the show off saying since it’s the first episode airing, she’s pretty nervous and isn’t sure how to handle it, honestly. She says has been talking by herself recently like at concerts but considers herself to be really bad at it. She talks about how she thinks it’s difficult to memorize what she has to say and then repeat it on stage and how even answering questions and summarizing talks are difficult and she’s incredibly nervous at those times. However, because she thinks she is really bad at talking by herself, she says will work at it. She says she wants to continue forward and become good at talking by herself, especially for the radio show. She then asks to listen closely for her improvements.

After that introduction, Kanon mentions that the radio program before this was Sayumi’s “Konya mo Usachan Peace” and how Sayumi was the personality of the radio show for 8 years. Now the baton has been passed to Kanon, but she says that 8 years was really an amazingly long time and wonders if it is really alright that she is continuing the show. She says that she is from Aichi, and she wants people to hear about her love and thoughts towards her hometown. She also mentions how she wants to look like someone who can handle things properly, mentioning that the show/she will have a “I’ll do my best!” theme. She wants to show herself in a true light. She mentions that there’s time for her show to become like “Konya mo Usachan Peace” and wants to work as hard as Sayumi had during her show.

Sayu: Good evening, everyone!
Fans: Good evening!

Tonight’s broadcast is a public recording, meaning it was recorded in front of a live audience.

Sayu begins by telling everyone about something that happened to her earlier that same the day. These public recordings being rather low-key events, Sayu says she’s just wearing her own clothes and that she did her hair by herself, too. She’d decided that she wanted to have straight hair today, so she used a straightening iron at home in the morning. While she always makes absolutely sure she’s unplugged it after she’s done, she nevertheless got worried about it once she’d left the house today. So she called her mom and asked her to double-check for her, but she was quick to remind Sayu that she herself had taken the straightening iron with her.

In any case, Sayu’s hair got a bit messy on her way the venue, so she straightened it a second time. She was just chatting to her manager about something while doing so, and when she was putting it away after she was done, she absent-mindedly touched the plates and burned her hand. Sayu says she tends to make fun of the members such as Rihoriho and Harunan who accidentally burn themselves a lot, so she may have learned a valuable lesson here. She says she’ll do her best while enduring the pain and says that if she fumbles with her words or is otherwise boring today, everyone should just blame it on the pain from her burn.

Suzuki, Oda and Kudo talk about their Hawaii tour that’s next week. For Oda, it’ll be the first time she’s ever been overseas in her life. She’s been told that Hawaii is basically the same as Japan as you can get by with just Japanese, but Kudo says that it still takes some time to get used to the different currency as well as everything, especially food portions, being bigger. Speaking of the different value of things there, Kudo tells a story about how last time when she was in Hawaii, she found a pair of black Converse sneakers she’d been wanting for sale at $19. She thought that was still a bit steep, but when she came back and looked it up, the cheapest pair she could find for sale in Japan was $40.

The three name the H!P members they’re most interested in as of late: Inaba Manaka (Oda), Takeuchi Akari (Suzuki) and Wada Ayaka (Kudo) — the last one earns Kudo few whistles from Oda.

Elaborating on their choices, Kudo says she got close to Wada-san thanks to them appearing in Lilium together. Oda notes that Kudo’s and Wada-san’s feelings for each other seem mutual and Suzuki figures Wada-san must have a thing for narcissists. Kudo starts making up an excuse to prove Wada-san’s innocence, and the other two say it’s cool how Kudo is trying to protect her so desperately. Kudo wants to change the topic.

Oda says she’s noticed Suzuki really likes Takeuchi lately which Suzuki admits. She says that when they’re hanging out together, she’s just “Akari-chan” as usual. But when Suzuki is by herself watching S/mileage’s videos and stuff — “Samui ne” or “Choto Mate Kudasai!” for example — she finds her so cute she doesn’t know what to do. Kudo asks if Suzuki saw their new PV yet, and Suzuki says (or rather, screams) that she did and that Take-chan was really cute in it. Oda explains that Suzuki first took notice of Take-chan’s appeal during the final day of Lilium: after the performances had all ended, she was just backstage watching their videos when she suddenly went “…Akari-chan is cute!!!” Suzuki says she’s lately often showing S/mileage’s videos to her dad and going “Isn’t Akari-chan just so cute in this?!” Kudo suggests that Suzuki has fallen in love with Take-chan. “Love, huh…?“, ponders Suzuki.

According to Oda, her pick, Inaba Manaka from the Kenshuusei, is first and foremost just really cute. She says she, too, may have fallen in love with Manaka-chan. Manaka-chan, though, says she likes Kudo, so Oda often tries to help her out by making her and Kudo closer. Once she called Manaka-chan and Kudo in the same room and made them link their hands, and afterwards Manaka-chan approached her and said “I was so nervous, Oda-chan! Thank you!” Oda then said “but I actually like you, you know…” and Manaka-chan happily replied “then it looks like this is becoming a love triangle!” Kudo says Oda’s pretty amazing for doing all that just to be close to Manaka-chan, but Oda corrects her and says she just does it because she wants the person she likes to be happy.

Suzuki, Kudo and Oda kick off the show by talking about August 9th which is Hug Day in Japan.

Kudo says that she’s often the one on the receiving end of hugs, whereas Oda and Suzuki are the ones who like doing the hugging. Suzuki says she specifically enjoys hugging Mizuki, but unfortunately doesn’t go into further detail as to why that may be. Oda says that hugging people is supposed to remove 60% of one’s stress, but then realizes that it must instead be a pretty stressful day for the people who don’t like being hugged. “It’d be like the person hugging them is just passing their 60% of stress right on to them,” Oda laughs. Kudo points out that it must suck if that person’s stress level was already at 100% to begin with — a 160% stress level can’t be pleasant.

Next, they talk about how August 10th is their senior Abe Natsumi’s birthday. Kudo remembers singing Abe-san’s “Tomorokoshi to Sora to Kaze” at Hawaii once, whereas Oda has sung “Iki wo Kasanemashou,” “Sweet Holic” and “Senkou Hanabi” at her solo events. While Suzuki hasn’t sung any of her songs yet, she was really happy recently when they were appearing on a music program together and Abe-san waved at her in the dressing room and went “Suzuki~!” while blowing her a kiss.

Speaking on her first impression of Abe-san, Oda recalls how during the 11th gen auditions the auditionees were doing training together at the office building, and Abe-san just suddenly stepped out of an elevator near where they were filming Oda. Oda was caught off guard, just thinking to herself “It’s Nacchi! I met Nacchi!

Moving on to the topic of summer homework assignments. Last year, Kudo did independent research regarding 100% orange juice. She bought lots of orange juice from different makers, compared their taste, detailed the differences in their ingredients, etc. Oda likes doing a diary/schedule type thing of her daily activities, but since joining Morning Musume, it’s now just filled with days like “woke up, put on make-up, performed concert, returned home.” Suzuki doesn’t want to be so detailed so she just writes “woke up, went to work, returned home.

Song: Morning Musume – One Two Three

…But before the song begins playing, Kudo and Oda suddenly start singing “Happy Birthday” and the staff brings in a cake to the studio — Suzuki just turned 16 some days prior to the broadcast of the show. Suzuki, after she gets over the surprise, is asked by Kudo about things she’d like to achieve or do on her 16th year. While Suzuki says it’s nothing terribly interesting, she says she’d like to become a better singer. Kudo and Oda both agree that it’s a great thing to strive for.
