As most of us know, Kanon got the flu not too long ago. Because of this she wasn’t able to perform in Nagoya for the Hello! Concert. Last time she got the flu before this was when she had just entered Morning Musume in 6th grade. She mentions writing on her blog that she hadn’t been eating while she had a fever. She decides to expand on this by explaining that she does eats while she has a fever, however it takes significantly more effort as Kanon finds it difficult to hold chopsticks while she has one. The other problem is that she gets hungry and wants to eat, but then after she’ll vomit, Kanon laughs. Apparently this would happen every hour sometimes. According to Kanon’s experience this flu is a pretty nasty one that takes a while to recover from, so she hopes everyone will be able to avoid getting it entirely.

Changing the subject to something more pleasant, February 2nd was Makino Maria’s birthday! She has just recently joined the group, but they are both from Aichi and have been able to discuss places and things about Aichi with ease. Kanon thinks that 14-year-old Maria will be a precious member to Kanon from here on out.

Message 1: Morning Musume has a song called “Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari”, right? It would be great to hear a Kanon version of the song that I have written. Wow! Please sing this version I wrote!

There hasn’t been a new a version of Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari made for the new members since the spring 2012 concert, so she wants to try this version and gives its a go:

“Although I may have a chubby character, don’t misjudge me~ With my Smile Beam, I’ll make everyone smile~”

After singing, Kanon is very happy they were able to come up with a new version for her. Kanon likes the “Kanon Beam” idea the fans have created. Kanon starts to reminisce about her lines in  the 2012 concert version, but then the staff suddenly starts up the music and has her sing it:

“I passed the audition with my “parodies” and now I’m a fast companion~ It doesn’t matter if my jokes are good or not, I’m going to do it my own way~”

“Ahh! Its been such a long time!” Kanon exclaims. Its been so long since singing her lines she was nervous she wouldn’t remember it all. It would be great if there was a version for the 13-member line up and maybe it will happen soon, she hopes.

January is already over, Kanon comtemplates. Its been four years now since Kanon joined Morning Musume. At that time, Kanon was in 6th grade and graduated elementary school the following month. She was undergoing intensive lessons at that time and missed out on going to the graduation ceremony. She goes on a tangent explaining how her classroom worked; good marks or performance would get you “plus points” and you could accumulate many over time and get some sort of reward from them. As it was the end of elementary school, her friends decided to give her some of their points because Kanon wasn’t getting very many (from joining Morning Musume and being busy). She felt very loved by her friends and really appreciated their support while she had to travel from her hometown to Tokyo so often, trying to learn as much as she could in school and work.

This first song is actually a request from her father, Kanon laughs.

To begin, Kanon expresses she couldn’t participate in the 2015 COUNTDOWN live. It couldn’t be helped however, due to her injury. The comments on her blog have helped her during her recovery process, Kanon assures everyone. She is surprised but happy how many people have commented on her blog about how she should “recover quickly” and “we’re worried about you”. Kanon received about 1000 “get well” messages. It was very kind of everyone to write them to her and wants to become better quickly for everyone, but for now Kanon asks everyone to wait a little while for her to recover.

Message 1: Otsukanon Desu! Its nabe season, isn’t it? On a the Youngtown program you recently talked about nabe and you made it sounds very tasty. What were your impressions from being on the show?

As a brief summary: She was very nervous about meeting one of the other people on the show and is sure she talked too quickly. She ended up saying things that were not idol-like; like talking about how she liked that broth in nabe. Overall, Kanon ended up saying kind of goofy things although idols are supposed to be a bit more of the straight man type. So from now on she’s going to be more careful about saying more idol-like things.

Kanon opens her show with a small discussion about the Winter Hello! Concerts. They are trying out a new type of performance style for DANCE MODE! (I’m assuming its the acrobatic performance shown at the beginning of this video). Kanon claims that she is considerably bad at it, however she affirms that the performances are very cool. There only Hello! Concerts every 6 months, so its really exciting to get to talk regularly for a little while with the other groups. Angerme is Kanon’s favorite group to be able to see at Hello! Concerts. Recently she got to talk with Tamura Meimi, which Kanon appreciates as she think they have a lot to relate about since they are both 16. After talking with her, Kanon realized that  Meimei has a firm vision for her future. It got Kanon thinking that she needs to create a vision for her future as well. She hasn’t really thought about it before, but the one thing that she definitely wants for her future is to continue in Morning Musume. From there, Kanon will build on what she would like her future to be like.

Happy New Year! Kanon announces that the new year means its Ayumi’s birthday as well, so Happy Birthday, Ayumi!

The 9th Generation members recently got together to talk about what they are planning on doing for the group now that they are the leading generation. Kanon points out that it had been a while since they all talked together, especially because Erina will go off and do her own thing a lot of time. Becoming the oldest generation happened very fast, they all think, especially for Mizuki, who has to take on the role of being the Leader. As a whole, the 9th generation wants to keep everyone’s power together and keep energy high within the group. Kanon goes on a small tangent about the other two 9th generation members; Erina will continue to be the one who’s laughing no matter the situation, she thinks, although Kanon urges Erina to understand that its ok to cry sometimes. Kanon seems a bit concerned for Erina; her opinion is that Erina will continue to have a laughing relationship with others, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Riho, being the center deals with her every action and performance being watched, therefore the pressure must continue to be very high for her. Riho works extremely hard to perfect her performances, but, Kanon says Riho has grown to become a lot more soft and playful. During those times of playfulness Riho makes the best faces, for the other members and for the fans. Kanon professes her love for all three of the other 9th generation members and has confidence that together they will work together to make the best Morning Musume in 2015.

Kanon starts the show off by complaining about how cold it is. She was surprised when she saw how cold it was on the news, especially that it was very cold in Aichi as well. Kanon explains that it never gets cold enough to snow in Aichi. However, she heard that it had even snowed in her hometown, which she is sure was just as surprising to the people in Aichi as it was to her. Everyone wants to eat the snow if it does fall, she laughs, as its just custom to do so. Overall, Kanon can’t stand the cold and can’t wait for spring to come around.

Recently, Kanon talked to the members about coming on the show. Sakura said she was alright with being on the show, so she will absolutely definitely be the first guest on her show, Kanon confirms. Haruka also told Kanon “Zukki, I totally wanna be on the show too!” and Mizuki also expressed interest. Kanon is happy that they want to be on the show and hopes they will have their first guest soon. Which, she reminds everyone has been decided that it will be Sakura. However, she doesn’t think she will have a guest on the show until she gets a better sense of doing the show by herself.

Listener’s Messages

Message #1: Konbankanon! Last year for Mizuki’s birthday, she posted on her blog about “AyuMiZukki” all hanging out and I wondered if there was a particular reason that when they hung out they went to Kamakura and Kyoto.

The first thing Kanon says is there isn’t a reason. Just that Ayumi, Mizuki and Kanon’s  names go well together, so it just made sense to say it like that. She doesn’t really know why, but they got a message requesting for them to go to Kamakura and so they went. And then, for Mizuki’s birthday, they went to Kyoto; she doesn’t know why they went there either. Other than those two places have a very “Japan” Feel to them, she doesn’t know why it was Kamakura and Kyoto. To be honest, Kanon says, whenever the three of them hang out it’s always very sudden. This doesn’t happen very often, so Kanon thinks of it like “I wish I knew when the next time would be”. The next time they have a break it would be nice to go to Kamakura or Kyoto, Kanon thinks.

Kanon shares that she doesn’t have a good association with Santa, so much so that she has sad memories attached to him. Sadly, he hasn’t come since 1st grade for Kanon. She started thinking “Well, Santa really isn’t coming anymore, huh?” after a few years without Santa. She explains she would feel gloomy in elementary school because her classmates would talk about what they got, but Kanon wouldn’t have anything to share with them. Now, however, because Morning Musume always has Christmas events she doesn’t feel so sad about it. At last years event, Kanon got to sing “Wa~ Merry Pin X’mas” with Sayumi. Kanon considers this as a gift from the gods as she was very happy to get the chance to sing with Sayumi. It was new for her to sing such a cute song as well. These new positive memories have taken the place of the sad ones Kanon previously had, so Christmas is something to look forward to now. There is a Christmas event this year too and she is sure she will have a lot of fun at the event.

Lately, because the Morning Musume tour is over, on Saturday and Sunday they have been doing handshake events (She seems to be talking about the “long handshake” events the members have wrote about on their blogs recently, where I guess fans get a longer time to talk to members). Kanon explains that they are from morning to night and they do about 8 handshakes per hour.  Because of that she is able to talk to everyone more often than normal. Apparently, many of the people who talked with her at the handshake talked to her about this  radio show and expressed their opinions about it. However, the number one thing she was told was “You’re talking a bit slow, Kanon-chan”. She says that she is really nervous at handshake events so she was definitely talking slower. She still thinks she isn’t good at talking by herself, and thinks that talking by yourself is still really scary; because of that she will get quiet during the handshakes and think “what should I say” and the like. In the end, Kanon is really just thinking very hard about what she says before she says it, therefore, she talks slowly. She explains that she is the same way with her blog, writing what’s on her mind doesn’t come naturally. Although, she says, she seems to blog a lot about food.
