By the time this recording, the spring tour will have just started. The rehearsal time was quite long for this tour. Usually, as was for the previous two concert tours, it felt like there was about a week of rehearsals and there was never enough time to remember everything. However, because there was a single release as well, the rehearsal time was longer. Typically, the dance teacher doesn’t have enough time to teach all of choreography, however there was even enough time during rehearsals to teach new formation dances. Kanon mentions that the 9th generation felt they really had to pull the whole performance up, being on top and all. The setlist is also packed with Morning Musume history, so there is a lot of pressure to perform these songs with great importance and to the best of everyone’s ability.

Kanon is really looking forward to the first day of tour, particularly because she wasn’t able to perform at the Hello! Concert due to her previous foot problems.

Message 1: This writer mentions they took their first trip on the Nagano Shinkansen and heard something that mentioned “Harunan” over the speakers. After, they went on a sightseeing bus and they thought they saw a parking area to be called “Goto Maki” in romaji. Has Kanon noticed anything like this?

Kanon apologizes and says she isn’t good at paying attention to smaller details. Nor is she good at remembering kanji, so noticing small details would take extra concentration. But, as far as seeing things out of place that share Morning Musume names, Kanon recalls seeing a train station called “Ikuta” once. Cool Story.

Message 2: This mail has a simple question: what part of a person do you notice first when you first meet someone?

Kanon thinks for a moment, and decides she notices the smell of a person first. If they have a nostalgic scent, Kanon really notices it, particularly if they smell like spring. Kanon will think things like “Ah they smell like my mom, they must be nice” or like “Ah that persons perfume smells nice; they seem nice,” and doesn’t  particularly notice any body part first. Although, during the Morning Musume auditions Kanon took particular note to Erina because she was wearing a flower patterned dress. Erina came off as bubbly and had a nice scent so Kanon thought “Ah she smells nice so she must be a nice girl,”. But now, Ikuta doesn’t smell as nice. Back then, Ikuta was going for a youthful appeal, so the flower patterned dress helped Kanon’s image of her. But for the most part, she doesn’t really notice anything about someone first; just their smell, if its nice.

March is almost over, huh. That means its about time for graduation season and the new school year to start. Also, Kanon’s sister is in 6th grade now. Kanon’s sister has always been more serious about her studies than her and a proud moment of late she became the student council president! Apparently back in elementary school, Kanon tried for this position too, but didn’t make it. Because Kanon loves her sister, she took her to Tokyo Disney Land as a congratulations.

Moving on, Kanon shares that she is entering her second year of high school and feels like everything in her life moving quickly. She doesn’t know how long she will be in Morning Musume after she graduates, but she is going to treat every day with importance.

Message 1: After the Osaka Hello! Concert everyone went out to get yakiniku. The writer asks for Kanon tell a story that wasn’t shared about that day.

It was a super fun meal in Osaka, Kanon recalls. Because Morning Musume ‘15 is so large, the group had split up tables. Kanon sat with Iikubo Haruna, Ogata Haruna, Kudo Haruka, and Nonaka Miki. The 12th gen duo get along very well, Kanon thinks. It seemed like Miki hadn’t really been to a proper yakiniku place, so Ogata was explained the process to Miki throughout the dinner. The five of them had a rambunctious, fun time teaching each other how to properly cook yakiniku, eating casually without the usually seniority hierarchy getting in the way.

Aside from that story, Katsuta Rina and Kanon are pretty goods friends so, at some point during the dinner Kanon went over to chat with Rina. When Kanon came over Rina responded positively with a “Oh I’m happy you came over!”, however, Natsuyaki Miyabi happened to be at the table next the two. Miyabi started talking to Rina and the two ended up just talking to each other the whole time, making Kanon a little sad. She was hoping to talk to Rina for a little well but oh well, there’s always next time.

First off, March has two birthday’s to celebrate for Morning Musume. Haga Akane and Oda Sakura! Akane turned 13 on the 7th. Kanon was surprised when she realized Akane wasn’t 13 when she initially joined. When the 9th Generation entered Morning Musume, Kanon had already turned 13, so at first Kanon thought “Oh, I can relate to Akane,” but after realizing she was actually 12, she thought “Wow, she’s so young,”. During lessons Akane seems to be connected to Kanon in some way, although this may be that Akane looks a bit like Kanon. At some point, Erina looked at Akane and said “Waa! I thought you were Kanon,” (or, maybe its just Erina). Akane seems to be the kind of kid that says deep things spontaneously. Kanon wonders where this will advance as Akane turns 13.

Next, Oda Sakura turned 16 on the 12th! Sakura is the number one member Kanon goes out to eat with. If there is a night lesson they will often eat dinner together before. Sakura had experience being in Kenshuusei before joining Morning Musume. Although Kanon doesn’t share this experience, she can understand the anxiety Sakura went through when she first joined so they can relate. Kanon states Sakura is an important member because of her great energy. Her great ability to dance and sing make her seem like a genius. She thinks its probably because Sakura works hard to do everything well so the fans can have a good performance to watch. Even though Kanon is her senpai, she definitely looks up to Sakura in that way.

At the time of this recording, White’s Day is just around the corner! Although usually Kanon doesn’t receive that much for this holiday. Even though it would be nice, Kanon assures her fans not to worry about it. Besides, Valentine’s Day is “Sweets Paradise” for her and if she ate everything she received quickly Kanon would wake up in the morning, look in her mirror and think “Who is this?!”. “Does anyone else understand this?” Kanon laughs. She explains that she receives so many sweets on Valentines Day that she has enough to cover her until April. The same thing happened last year, Kanon remembers, where she had so many sweets it is easy to stretch out savoring each one well past February. Even if she does want to eat everything quickly. She will do her best not to pig out on sweets!

Message 1: Kanon talks about eating curry often, so the listener writes that they wonder what kind of curry Kanon would make if she were to make it herself and with who.

Making curry isn’t really her specialty, she is better at making sweets. Thinking about it, Kanon has tried making gratin with chicken and cream cheese and she also recalls making consomme successfully, but overall cooking isn’t really her thing. Curry is something Kanon thinks she would like to become good at making, however. Most likely, she would try to make it with Ayumi as she has seen that Ayumi has made it before on her blog. Kanon has tried Ayumi’s tamagoyaki before and thought it was amazingly delicious; it had a nice mother-made taste. So she would entrust Ayumi to help her make curry. Aside from Ayumi, maybe Sakura, as they go on Curry Dates often. Sakura seems to like Indian Curry often, however and isn’t a recipe she has ever thought of making. The recipe seems kind of complicated, but Sakura is good at cutting vegetables nicely…so….Kanon decides to leave it to Sakura to make the Indian Curry. In the end, Kanon ultimately decides that the delicious curry making should be left to Ayumi and Sakura, since they’ll do a better job anyhow.

I mean, Kanon and Ayumi could make a good pair in the kitchen…

Its about time for Girl’s Day Festivals! As it is with most holidays, there are rehearsals going on, so there is little Kanon can do for them. If she could, Kanon would go to a party back home in Aichi, even though it takes about two hours via bullet train. The party is a meat party at her favorite Brazilian restaurant where she can eat delicious meat, bread and cheeses and enjoy herself. She may not have time to go this year, but going to this restaurant is her fondest memory of Girls Day.

Message 1: This listener notes that Kanon has mentioned that she likes The Drifters before and asks Kanon what she likes most about them, particularly Takagi Boo.

She got into them originally because her Dad was really into them and owns many of their DVD’s. Her mother is really into Takagi Boo, so Kanon explains that her mother would greet her when she came home similarly to Takagi Boo, so she feels like she just grew up around them. She then rambles on about the way each character acts. (The most notable thing about these as far as most readers are concerned is probably that The Drifter’s member Shimura Ken was that guy in the Mini Moni Ai~n music video)

February’s almost over huh, which means the Hello! Concert’s recently ended as well. This time Kanon couldn’t do a whole lot and wasn’t sure if they would let her attend the concerts at all. Fortunately, she was, although Kanon thought it was annoying that she had to sit the whole time. She had sit out of rehearsals as well. Kanon received videos of the dances/poses instead of sitting through the entirety of a rehearsal. Because she could only pose, Kanon would try to do the choreography perfectly. Kanon knows that her problems were unavoidable with her foot injury and the flu getting in the way, though.

While she was sick,she took up using coconut oil more often. Kanon explains that she will use coconut oil to fry a salad with apples and meat fat. Well, at least, she would use the meat fat but for a while she couldn’t eat it as it would make her sick.  While Kanon had the flu and even a time after she couldn’t eat anything but coconut oil and apples as other things would make her sick. Kanon proclaims to like the coconut oil, but prefers to eat more of a variety of things, generally speaking. Now that that the Hello! Concert’s are over she has gotten better and can eat normally.

On February 15th it was Ogata Haruna’s birthday. Happy Birthday Haruna! As Kanon’s explained before, Haruna and Kanon are in the same year of high school, and because of this she would like to talk with her more. Haruna’s from Osaka, so she will sometimes speak in Osakan Dialect; although with Kanon she will speak formally. Although, sometimes Haruna’s Osakan dialect will slip out while speaking formally and Kanon thinks is adorable. Haruna is very fair-skinned, like Mizuki, with skin that looks light and marshmallow like, in Kanon’s opinion. She thinks Haruna’s skin is light enough to the point where it looks like she has such smooth skin that she resembles a mermaid to Kanon. She laughs and wonders if its ok to say this, but she really does likes Haruna’s skin. Anyway! Kanon is the same age as Haruna but is her senior and wonders if she will become like a rival for her in the future. In any case, Kanon will continue to do her best.

Recently, Kanon has been experiencing kindness from various people. To start, her father normally takes her to the radio show every week. This time Kanon received the script for the show the day before the recording. Her manager explained that she had to use certain type of software to open the script. Kanon ended up having a lot of problems with the software and got angry and yelled “This is annoying! I’m done!”. Apparently she would try again and again to get the software to work, get angry with it, leave, then come back. She did this about 8 times. At this point, it had gotten late and her father had already gone to bed. Kanon planned on giving up and going to sleep too, but her dad ended up getting up and helped her locate the Kanon! Smile’s script, print the document, and stapled it together easily. Kanon thought it was crazy that her dad figured it out so easily because she couldn’t seem to figure it out for the life of her. Looking back on it, she is grateful her father sat down with her and figured it out so nicely and it gave warm memories.

Her second instance occurred when Kanon still had the flu, so she had to miss out on a Hello! Concert and dance rehearsals. Overall she felt very bothersome for the other members and apologized a lot, however Sakura told her “Its totally fine, just get better,”. Kanon got really lonely while she was sick, but the kind words Sakura told her made her feel a little better. Kanon really appreciated that Sakura seemed genuinely concerned with her health by sending her kind emails telling her to come back soon.

These two instances made Kanon very happy and grateful for others kindness.
