This past May, the 28th to be exact, was Sayashi Riho’s 17th birthday! Kanon and Riho both entered Morning Musume as 12 year olds. They are both now at what is considered the lovely age of 17, and it feels strange that so much time has passed. Kanon reminisces about the shooting of Maji de Suka Ska!: she notices now that Riho was already in the center during the jacket shooting and how that has progressed to her still being the center today. Riho is probably constantly worried about her being the center; being the face of the group and having a lot of pressure to hold on to is certainly a lot to deal with, Kanon speculates. Although Riho’s public character is cooler, when Kanon looks at her, she still thinks “Riho is pretty cute, though!”. She doesn’t show it in public very often, but Riho will occasionally start messing around and will get carried away with the silliness. Kanon thinks it would be great for the fans to see this, although she isn’t sure if Riho’s goofiness will ever become visible to the public.

May brought the end of Morning Musume 15’s spring tour. For Kanon, many tours have ended with a member graduation. For example, Takahashi Ai and Michishige Sayumi both graduated at the end of a fall tour, and Niigaki Risa, Tanaka Reina, and Mitsui Aika all graduated in the spring. So, every time a tour end comes near, Kanon is reminded of those times. She looks back on the members last single and the work that they did together during that time; feeling a great sense of need to do her best to move on and push towards the future. Speaking of Mitsui Aika though, she recently returned from New Zealand, which Kanon is particularly excited about. She considers Aika to be one of her mentors and her return means Kanon can go out to eat with her again. She conclude the intro saying she’d like to show off a fresh new side of her for the end of the spring tour.

The first song is a request from a listener. They ask Kanon to play Kimagure Princess and ask who out of Morning Musume ‘15 is the most moody (kimagure). She quickly chooses Sato Masaki as the most moody.

May 7th was Masaki’s birthday, Happy Birthday! Masaki joined just 9 months after Kanon; at the time she was only 12 years old. Kanon was 13, so suddenly, she was no longer the youngest after a small period of time, which left her initially with a strange feeling. Masaki quickly became the younger sister member of the group which led to Kanon thinking that Masaki was a pretty cute kid. Recently, on the spring tour, during the filming for it Kanon noticed that Masaki was much more mature and cool. Because Masaki is more known for her character as being energetic and cute, the grown up Masaki surprised her. Kanon praises Masaki, saying she a genius when it comes to understanding songs and the like; it really motivates Kanon to do her best alongside Masaki in Morning Musume.

Sakura is back! For the intro, the two discuss Children’s Day, which happened to be the day this show aired. Kanon asks if Sakura has any particular memories attached to the day. Sakura recalls the helmet her family would bring out, which was something Kanon’s brother brought out too. While its simply called Children’s Day now, it used to be called Boy’s Day and the two associate most girl related celebrations with Hinamatsuri. They both reminisce about what they ate for the holidays, such as small cakes, mochi and a fancy lunch sets. Going back to Children’s Day, it falls during Golden Week, meaning Morning Musume will be pretty busy during that time. This year, they’ll be holding a concert at Nakano Sun Plaza, and the girls invite everyone to come. To finish their opening talk Kanon reminds everyone that Sakura is the first guest on her radio show so its going to be a pretty special show today.

Message 1: The writer thinks that Morning Musume’s latest song “Yuugure wa Ameagari” seems like its a message for Sayumi and wonders what Kanon and Sakura think of that.

The two agree that recently they’ve been reigning in their Sayumi feelings. Sakura states that most of the DVD magazines and the past Spring Tour DVD have been released, and that means Morning Musume releases involving Sayumi will soon end.. Going back to the song, the two bring up the lyric “I’m reminded of the fun nostalgic days, but they won’t come back”. They delve into the lyrical meaning of not being able to go back; to Sakura, its more like “I can’t return to the finale,”. Kanon brings up Tsunku’s Liner Notes, that explained “Its a sad song, but it’s also a forward-looking song,” also “Its sad that Sayumi left, but please leave the future to us,”, which she thought was quite moving, but still reminds her of her time with Sayumi.

This week, Kanon has her first guest on the show: Oda Sakura! After wooing for a few seconds in excitement, Kanon asks if Sakura knew how highly requested she was to come on the show. Sakura says she did know: many people had told her they wanted her on her blog. There really were a lot of requests, despite it making Kanon a little annoyed. Moving on, the two have many stories together, being curry friends, they even went for curry before the recording. Aside from that brief introduction to their friendship, Kanon is excited for Sakura fans to also tune into their radio show.

Recently, Kanon went to Disney Sea with her family. Last year her sister got the flu during the trip, but this year all four of her family members were able to make it. Kanon explains this is a miracle, as both of her parents took a break from work, her sister was on spring break and Kanon was able to get some time off. They had quite the packed schedule; her family got up at 5 am to travel to the park. This resulted in her parents and herself being rather tired, but her sister was still excited for the experience. Her sister had created an elaborate schedule for the family, buying fastpasses for certain rides early so they would for sure be able to go on all the rides and attractions they wanted. It was tiring, but Kanon is happy she was able to do it with her family.

This past March was the Hina Fest at Pacifico Yokohama Arena. Kanon has been making announcements advertising Hina Fest for the past few radio broadcasts at the end of the show, so now that it’s over, she’ll tell a story from the event. The venue itself was fairly intimidating since the fans literally surrounded the stage. The rehearsals for the event started only about two or three days before, so Kanon was troubled with memorizing which side of the stage to look out into. Another other notable story about Hina Fest was winning a spot in the first concert’s Trio-Group with Wada Ayaka and Sayashi Riho as “Peaberry with Suzuki Kanon Accompanying”  and they sang Tanpopo. Kanon had never sung a song of this level, so she was wondering if the fans would like it. Also, Kanon was in a group with two aces, so she really worried if it was ok for her to be there as well. However, when it came time to perform she saw that there were green penlights in the audience for her and felt relieved. After the concert, Kanon realized something for the first time: Sayumi had really taught everyone about professional awareness that Kanon didn’t realize she had been taught until after the Hina Fest concerts. Something to be thankful to Sayumi for yet again.

Letter 1: This letter actually comes from a Japanese fan living in America. They discuss how you can make sweets in a rice cooker and recalls hearing that Kanon likes to make sweets. Therefore, they wonder if Kanon is good at making any type of sweets that look complicated but are actually easy to make.

Kanon explains she’s particularly good at making cheesecake, but that’s really easy. Thinking about the question more, Kanon explains she usually makes cookies using pancake mix. You make the cookies how you normally would but they will cook a bit differently. Kanon says it makes the cookies fluffier. She recommends trying this. Lately though, Kanon has been trying to get better at using wheat flour when making cookies.

Its April 7th, which is  the day Kanon’s life changed: the day Maji de Suka Ska! released. The day is full of memories for the 9th generation, who make notice of the day every year. Reflecting on her debut time, Kanon recalls dance lessons for the single started in February. The lessons were particularly challenging for Kanon, since the rhythm was tough. She didn’t like that the rhythm was taught with English numbers rather than Japanese. There was a special rehearsal for the 9th generation to learn choreography with their seniors, and it was pretty tough for them. After the two hours rehearsal Kanon felt that she could only do the choreography about 30% as perfectly as her seniors. It was truly tiring. Soon after when the video-shooting day arrived, Kanon couldn’t quite remember the proper formation and choreography. She was paired with Mitsui Aika in the formation, who helped her become able to finally do it. Kanon had been practicing the choreography constantly at school, to the point where Kanon is sure everyone thought of her as being the girl who is dancing all the time.

I, Suzuki Kanon Will Open Up To My True Feelings Message Corner!

Message 1: The writer explains they have a dog who does certain things like human and they wonder if Bii-chan does things like a human as well.

Kanon isn’t sure if it’s the same, since dogs are different from cats. But, one time when the intercom dinged in her house, Bii-chan growled. Then, when Kanon answered the door for the package deliveryman, Bii-chan continued to growl at them, which surprised her. This happened a few times now. However, Bii-chan won’t say anything if it’s a family member. Kanon has no idea how Bii-chan can tell, but there must be some difference. So, she thinks Bii-chan must clever ears.
